Oil around the travel motor is the usual first clue. After that comes a track that pulls weaker than the other side, or oil pushing past the motor seal into the final drive. This 228-3238 kit is the OEM-referenced replacement for 228-3238 / 2283238 on the Caterpillar 374. It covers the sealing points inside the travel motor.
The seals are PU, Viton, and NBR. PU takes the pressure and wear points. Viton handles heat. NBR covers oil-side and static sealing. Profiles are molded to OEM dimensions, so they sit in the grooves without trimming or stretching.
This is a seal kit only. Bearings, gears, shaft, and the complete travel motor are not included.
Before ordering, check the machine serial and travel motor part number. CAT 374 machines can use different travel motor arrangements depending on serial range, so the model alone may not be enough.
